I started making jewelry on my kitchen counter as something to do with my hands after long days at work. Somewhere along the way, the things I was putting on in the morning started to feel like mine for the first time, not an algorithm’s guess at what I’d like.
It made me realize how much of how we show up in the world, what we wear, what we buy, what we put our name on, gets shaped for us instead of by us.

The decision gutted Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, the provision that for sixty years protected against racial discrimination in voting, and made it far harder to challenge district maps drawn to weaken their vote.
